Headlines and pop culture tidbits from around the ‘net:
- J.J. Abrams and Indy himself, Harrison Ford, are teaming up for a new comedy titled Morning Glory. Rachel McAdams is in talks to co-star but has yet to sign on. The concept revolves around an aspiring news producer (McAdams) who tries to save a failing morning show by getting control of its feuding anchors (Ford and a TBA actress). Seems like a great opportunity for Ford to highlight his amazing comedic timing and for McAdams to add another impressive flick to her recent tally of high profile gigs (including The Time Traveler’s Wife and Guy Ritchie‘s Sherlock Holmes).
- Jeremy Piven is cutting his run in Speed-the-Plow on Broadway short by several months. He had canceled his appearances for the past 2 shows and now has pulled out completely, apparently on the advice of his doctor. The reason? Apparently, he is suffering from overly high levels of mercury in his system. Which is code for something, but what I don’t know. The show’s playwright, the razor sharp David Mamet, had this to say:
“I talked to Jeremy on the phone, and he told me that he discovered that he had a very high level of mercury. So my understanding is that he is leaving show business to pursue a career as a thermometer.”
Best. Response. Ever. His replacement has yet to be named.
